Thanks for your interest in the "Aviation Friendly" Sidnaw School Townhomes. We are very early in the project at this time and are still working on some of the logistics with the local and regional authorities. We do have some preliminary drawings of floor plans that I will get to you. There are going to be some choices. Due to the fact that this School was built in 1923 and has a very sound foundation, some of the interior walls will not be able to be moved so as not to compromise its structural integrity. What this means is some of the units will have unique footprints. This will not be a "cookie cutter" type project, so customer input is welcomed and we can do some custom details.
Here are a few details on the project:
The building is 75x62 ft, two story brick built in 1923.
The outside of the structure will not be changed except for individual entrances for each unit.
There will be up to 9 two story units available.
Each townhome will have its own furnace (propane),and its own electric service.
The development will have well water and for sanitary, a drain field.
The various units will be around 800sqft up to 1000sqft, maybe a little more in some center units that will use some of the former gymnasium space. These could be three story units.
There will be an association of owners formed and they will assume responsibility for ownership when all the units are sold. We are promoting this as an "Aviation Friendly Development" and although not a requirement ,it would be nice if all future owners are pilots. The adjacent Prickett Grooms Airfield (6Y9) is a privately owned, open to the public, State of Michigan licensed airport. It is held by a Non Profit Corp., which I am the director. My son is a pilot, flight instructor, and also the airport manager. So it will remain an airport well into the future. It is presently 2000 ft and is being lengthened out to 2600 ft. this summer, with an additional 300 ft possible soon after. There will be land to lease if someone wants to build a hanger, maybe hanger space to lease in the future.
The area offers Western Upper Peninsula beauty, small town community, with pine and hardwoods, lakes and streams, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, hiking, of course scenic flying, and more .
Please be patient with us as this is a development in its infancy.
Please contact me if you would like more information.
