In 2006 the Southern Houghton County Airport and Heritage Association reopened Sidnaw's Prickett Grooms Airport after it was closed by the state of Michigan in the summer of 2004. On August 5th, 2006 pilots flew in from as far away as New Mexico to help re-open the field.  As part of their efforts the people that helped make this happen were given this plaque:
